WHEW
The W.H.E.W. Project (Women’s Health and Evolutionary Wellness) stands as a bold, love-led evolution of a legacy deeply rooted in reproductive justice, healing, and liberation. Born from the powerful foundation of The Afiya Center, this initiative centers the lived experiences and leadership of Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people across generations. By viewing healing as a fundamentally political act, the project utilizes cultural strategy, storytelling, and spiritual practices to drive systemic transformation and build collective power within Black communities.
Driven by an unwavering commitment to full bodily autonomy, their work champions the right to self-determination in everything from daily reproductive health to affirming maternal care. By intentionally welcoming Black men into the fold as parents, partners, and active co-conspirators in liberation, The W.H.E.W. Project beautifully models what intergenerational community accountability looks like. It is a striking testament to how grassroots advocacy, when fueled by love, can reshape the future of healthcare and systemic justice.
